Who doesn’t love a good buffalo check?! Thrift and Aldi’s finds led to this perfect and cozy Christmas season outfit for just $10!

The most exciting part of thrifting
I’m a pretty frugal person. I have a hard time justifying a purchase unless it’s a good deal. One of my favorite things to do after making a thrift purchase is finding the original cost of the item. I couldn’t find either of these exact items being sold new currently. I did find similar items of the same brand new and the exact items on poshmark (here and here).
Thrift Sweater Price Comparison/Breakdown
The sweater brand is Cable & Gauge and ,in the poshmark listing, it is noted that it was purchased from Nordstrom. I was able to find Cable & Gauge sweaters for sale at Nordstrom rack. It seems they are typically $60 when not on sale. Comparing the $2 I spent on the sweater to a potential original price of $60, I would have gotten around a 97% discount! Even compared to the poshmark price of $20, I still would have snagged it with a 90% discount! Those are my kinda deals!
thrift Skirt Price Comparison/Breakdown
The skirt brand is Banana Republic. Looking on their website, the skirts of similar length are around $90 each. I found the exact skirt on poshmark currently being sold for $18, but looks like it was originally posted for $45. Comparing the $3 I spent at the thrift store to the $90 brand new average, I would have gotten around a 97% discount! Even compared to the poshmark price of $18, I would have gotten around a 83% discount!
Aldi’s Find Comparison/Breakdown
I love Aldi! It’s so much easier to make a quick grocery trip there and not go over your budget than going into Walmart. I also love their aisle with random household items, which is where these fleece-lined tights were found! I was able to find a pair on amazon for just $10.99 so this isn’t a deal that makes me squeal with excitement, BUT tights aren’t something I particularly want to buy used. In this scenario, I’m fine with my (around) 50% find.. which is still really good!
The Staples
The completion of this outfit was made possible by my sister letting me borrow her black boots. They are probably a staple in most people’s wardrobes, I just haven’t completed mine yet. It can be a bit of a challenge to find a great deal on something specific like black leather boots. Until I find some in great condition for a great deal, I’m thankful I have some awesome sisters to help me out with my on-a-budget fashion needs!
