Quick & Easy
When making BBQ sauce at home, it’s gotta be quick and easy. BBQ sauce is usually something I buy store-bought. I have my favorites (Johnny Harris & Sweet Baby Rays) and usually only make it at home if I happened to run out. It’s not something I usually calculate into my prep which is why my focus was to make this quick & easy!
Flavor Profile
There are sooo many different bbq sauces. I love trying all the different ones! The first time I ordered a BBQ sandwich in NC I was like….. they forgot the BBQ sauce… Nope! And now that good ole vinegar base is my all time favorite. But for today, I went with a (mostly) tomato base. I originally put this sauce together for jackfruit, so I wasn’t sure if a vinegar-only base would work well. This is a pretty well-rounded flavor profile, I’d say. My husband says the vinegar stands out a bit too much for him, so if you aren’t a huge vinegar fan you can omit. You will get some vinegar flavor from the ketchup, I just love vinegar! It also has a decent kick to it from the cayenne. Of course, if you aren’t a spice fan you can dial back or eliminate the cayenne pepper!

Are you a sauce fan?
I (jokingly) call myself the sauce queen, so I obviously am a huge fan of sauce lol! Let me know if you try this quick & easy recipe! I’d love to hear how you like it. I LOVED it on this vegetarian bbq sandwich!
Oh thank you, this looks incredible! I can’t wait to try it out. I love that it’s so easy.
Yes, quick and easy! My main concerns besides flavor haha!
I just made a BBQ sauce very similar for a brisket the other night. SO good!
Ohhhh, I bet that was great!!
Homemade sauces are the best!! This sounds perfect. Can’t wait to try it out 🙂
BBQ sauces can be tricky with so many different directions to go. My 7 yr old and I were big fans, though. I hope you like it also!
This BBQ sauce sounds very tasty. My husband loves smoke paprika so I will have to try making this.
I love the addition of smoked paprika in meat substitutes. I’ve also seen people adding liquid smoke, but I haven’t added it to my pantry yet. The smoked paprika did the the trick in this recipe!
Oh I can’t wait to try this. My boys LOVE bbq sauce so I’d love to be able to make our own. I’m definitely going to give this one a shot. Thanks!
Yay! It’s nice that it’s so easy just in case you didn’t know you ran out of BBQ sauce until dinner time. That’s kind of how I wound up throwing this together lol!
mmm!!! I need to save this recipe for the summer time – we just got a new grill and I cant wait to use it with this sauce!
I hadn’t even thought of using it on the grill!! I don’t think I’ll be eating meat then, BUT I can imagine this sauce would give an insanely delicious and tender result!!
